Hand-welded bikes shown here before they have been black chromed.

The year was 2006. I was working at the family dealership, St. Joe Harley-Davidson, with my brother Mick when Travis Caw, a good friend of mine, came in and said we really needed something good for the auction at the big St. Joe Harley-Davidson & Pony Express HOG Christmas party. He remembered a small metal motorcycle that I had made for him last year as a Christmas gift and said when people stop by my house they all fall in love with my Bolt Bike.

As I paused for a moment I remembered how much work, time, and dirt that was to make. I said ok I know where you are going with this, I will do it!

So later that week I picked up all the metal rods, nuts, bolts, and brazing rod that I would need. Travis came out and watched as I proceeded to build a few frames, front ends, motors, trans, and then weld them together. You see these bikes aren't just a couple wheels and a few nuts, each bike is built to scale to represent a current and historical motorcycle so they do take a lot of time if you are to make them detailed. The finished products are a Chopper, 1903 early model, Old School Bobber, and a 1920's Board Track Racer.

At the Christmas Party auction they were the hit of the party and not one went under $100.00! After the auction probably fifteen plus people came up and asked me to make one for them. As I stated earlier they do take a lot of time and patience to build. So I said I just can't, as I don't have the time. Soon after I was in contact with a friend of mine that makes horse statues for a living and does extremely well. She gave me the contact people that she used to reproduce her art. After sending a few pictures to this company they replied with a lot of interest as there is nothing out there like these little bikes for the motorcycle enthusiasts!

I received the models back from the foundry and oh my goodness, I couldn't tell them apart from my original models and they are still handmade not a mold or made by a robot like all the rest of the collectibles which makes these a very artsy and unique piece.

I have future plans to build some more models like a Hill climber, Touring bike, Side car model and more. The gears in my head just won't stop turning so stay tuned for some really cool ones!

And if you are looking for a special hand made gift for that motorcycle enthusiast's office desk, or living room these are just the ticket.

Thank you for your interest in my Bolt Bikes!
